Kothagudem: Despite restrictions by police, a large number of adivasis turned up for the funeral ceremony of top Maoist Commander Madivi Hidma at his native village Puvarthi in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Thursday.

Le commandant maoïste Madivi Hidma, tué par les forces de l’ordre en Andhra Pradesh en début de semaine avec son épouse Raje (), a été inhumé dans son village natal de Puvarthi, dans le district de Sukma, au Chhattisgarh. Malgré les restrictions policières, des milliers d’Adivasis (peuple autochtone) ont assisté aux obsèques. Hidma et son épouse Raje ont été tués mardi  dans les forêts de Maredumilli. Leurs corps ont été remis à la famille de Hidma mercredi soir après l’autopsie à l’hôpital de Rampachodavaram. Compte tenu de la position d’Hidma au sein de la structure maoïste et de sa popularité auprès des Adivasis, sa dépouille a été transférée au Chhattisgarh sous haute sécurité. Un important dispositif policier a été déployé au village jeudi afin de prévenir tout incident. Les funérailles ont été célébrées selon les traditions adivasi. Madivi Hidma, alias Santosh, est né en 1981 dans le village de Puvarthi. Il a rejoint le PCI (maoïste) à la fin des années 1990 et a rapidement démontrés ses compétences opérationnelles. Il est finalement devenu commandant du bataillon n° 1 de la PLGA, l’unité d’élite de la guérilla maoïste dans la région de Dandakaranya, qui s’étend sur le Chhattisgarh, l’Andhra Pradesh, l’Odisha, le Telangana et le Maharashtra. Hidma était le plus jeune membre et le seul représentant tribal de Bastar au sein du comité central maoïste.
